St. Therese school was founded on January 19, 1929 by the Sisters of the Apostolic Carmel, who drew their inspiration for the venture from Bishop Paul Perini and Fr. Porta . Originally, there was only a one room building, but within in a couple of years, an eleven acre plot was purchased and the onward march began. The first batch of students appeared for the S.S.L.C exam in 1943. In 1945, permanent recognition was granted to the school. The year 1961 saw the bifurcation of the Lower primary parallel English medium school was received that same year. In 1979, the school celebrated its Golden Jubilee, rededicating itself to its golden motto of loving service. A major turning point came when the Plus Two classes started in 1998, following the delinking of the Pre Degree Course from College. 'LOVE SERVES' is the motto of St. Therese School, Shoranur. If love is, as all the religion of the world & even the modern Science of psychology remind us, an attempt to nurture the spiritual growth of loved on, this educational institution has truly spend the 75 years of its history in the light of this noble motto. It was this love for the fellow human beings of the then largely underdeveloped Shoranur that had led our fore founders hither.
